URMC employees can participate individually or as members of teams (1-5 people per team).

When does Stair Challenge start and end?

Stair Challenge will run for two weeks, including the weekends, from May 3rd – May 16th.

Can I participate from home since I work virtually?

No, unfortunately only employees on campus can participate this year. We look forward to having you in 2022!

How do I sign up?

You can sign up by scanning the QR code on the Stair Challenge posters or by clicking the “SIGN UP” button on the Stair Challenge website home page. All teams should designate a team leader who will sign up the entire team and who will be responsible for submitting team stats at the end of the challenge. Please sign up May 3rd!

What do I need to sign up?

To sign up for the stair challenge, you will need to provide your team’s name, team leader email, and number of team members (1-5 only). Only have one person per team sign up.

What counts as a “floor"?

Only climbing up the stairs will be counted for stair challenge! For example, going up from floor 1 to floor 2 counts as one floor, but going down from floor 2 to floor 1 does not count.

How do I report my stats or my team's stats?

On Sunday, May 16th, please use the “REPORT” button on the Stair Challenge website to disclose how many flights of stairs you or your team climbed during the two-week period. You may report your "stairs climbed" everyday during the event, please make sure to report total stairs climbed at least once before the event ends on May 16th.

Are there any rewards?

Prizes will be distributed to the leading teams and individuals on Wednesday, May 19th. Click on the “PRIZES” button on the Stair Challenge website to find out more! Distribution of the prizes will be up to the team.

To determine prizes, the teams average will be taken. This will make it comparable from the teams of different sizes. We encourage teams for the best chance to win.

What if I cannot take the stairs?

We understand that the 2021 Stair Challenge excludes people with different abilities or who may not otherwise be able to take the stairs for various reasons. Click on the “EDUCATION” and “RECIPE” buttons on the Stair Challenge website to learn more about healthy living.
